November 30, 2010–Eva Mendes and Jeremy Renner announced the nominees for the 2011 Spirit Awards this morning at West Hollywood’s London Hotel.

It’s the second nomination-announcing event in less than a month at this posh hotel just autograph-shouting distance from the Sunset Strip.

Queen Latifah emceed the November 9 event that announced nominees for the 2011 People’s Choice awards from the scenic rooftop of the London Hotel.

Ten days later, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony used the same rooftop’s English garden to announce their $3 billion his and hers clothing and home design collaboration with Kohl’s.

With sweeping 360-degree views of the LA skyline and the Hollywood Hills, this 6850-square-foot rooftop garden was also the location of Colin Hanks May 8 wedding to Samantha Bryant. Proud parents Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson manned the front row of the private ceremony that featured huge ball lamps and a celebrity guest list that included Alyssa Milano, Reese Witherspoon and beau Jim Toth.

Not only does Hampton Court, as the stunning rooftop is called, offer one of the best views of Los Angeles, but it provides poolside catering by Gordon Ramsay, a celebrity in his own right. This profanity-shouting Scotsman oversees the hotel’s Boxwood Café that offers a free gourmet “breakfast table” to guests of the hotel’s 200 750-square-foot or bigger suites.

Since the London West Hollywood opened (it was incarnated from the old Bel Age Hotel), it has pulled down reams of awards from AAA Four Diamonds to Conde Nast’s “hot list” to Travel+Leisure’s pronouncement that it’s the best hotel in California.

The rooftop pool where the above festivities took place offers chic private cabanas, a fire pit, complimentary “delighters” (skewers of fruit and mini-smoothies) and a pool concierge who has been known to arrange everything from couple’s shiatsu massages to a spins down Mullholland Drive in a cherry red convertible.

The People’s Choice awards will be broadcast January 5, 2011 from the Nokia Theatre. The Spirit Awards, celebrating independent films, will air from the beach in Santa Monica on February 26, 2011.
